Marley Cutbush on KEMAH’s sale

I’m delighted to share the sale of the 2018 Nordhavn 76 KEMAH to a longstanding client and experienced Nordhavn owner based in Thailand.

The buyer and I had been discussing a move into a larger yacht, including the possibility of a new build, when KEMAH became available in Vancouver. She looked like a great fit, so we flew to Canada and spent several days aboard with her owner.

It was clear KEMAH had been exceptionally well cared for. Spending time aboard and getting to know her owner gave us the confidence to move ahead, and we reached an agreement in principle.

With the buyer in Phuket, the seller in Canada and shipping arranged to South Korea, I helped bring together the purchase, insurance and transport arrangements.

KEMAH will be shipped to South Korea before her new owner takes her towards Phuket under her own power, via Hong Kong, the South China Sea and Singapore.

Her arrival during typhoon season calls for careful planning, particularly while her owner gets familiar with a new boat. I reached out to my longtime friend Roger Badham, better known as Clouds, who kindly agreed to assist with professional weather routing from South Korea towards Hong Kong.

Once home in Phuket, her owner plans electrical upgrades, including lithium batteries and inverter systems. We’re also preparing his previous Nordhavn for sale, so keep an eye out for that.

Congratulations to KEMAH’s new owner, and thank you for trusting me with the search and purchase. My thanks also to her previous owner for the care he’s put into such an exceptional yacht.

If you’re thinking about your next boat, here or overseas, I’d love to have a chat.
